For $40 I would just make it myself. For that style of grate, you can make it for way cheaper yourself. If you want something a little different than the diamond grid you can order sheets of perforated aluminum for a little more.

The mesh looks very tight. I think it would cause a restriction of air. Plus, this section is all about trying to do it your own way, even if it can be purchased somewhere else. It's 1/2 the fun (the other 1/2 is admiring your work with a after it's all donw)

Not bad, what type of material did you use?

I picked the piece of galvanized screen up at our local Ace Hardware store. This is stiff and it doesn't really look like it but it won't block the air flow hardly any. The piece was an end piece off a roll. The whole thing, zip ties and tie blocks and gorrila glue and screen cost about $20.00. I really am glad I did it.

Just finished mine up using the black plastic gutter guard from the local big box home center. It's an easy mod, and I never would have thought of it with JK-Forums! I figure it will last about 2 years before needing refreshment.

Gutter Guard: $4 (Roofing Aisle)
30 Zip ties: 6$ (Electrical Aisle)
30 Zip-Tie Holders $6 (Electrical Aisle)
1 Tube Loctite Epoxy $4 (Paint Aisle)

And I still have material left over, though I went little wild with the Epoxy, so it's all gone!

Default I cant get the zip-tie blocks to stay on

I completed this mod using the 7 piece and zip tie and block method. I orriginally used 3 on each side and 1 at the bottom of each opening. After 1 highway streach, 1/2 of the blocks had come loose. I recleaned the surface, replaced the blocks, and added 2 more to each side of the opening. The blocks came off again.........any suggestions?
