wow, and to think I've hung mine with 4 ratchet straps and 4 eyebolts into studs for the last 5 years.

$24,99 racket strap combo ( I think)
4 eye bolts $1.99 each?

anyway I wrote it up, and works great low cost.

Another option...

That's exactly what I've done with mine

FYI... If you're a veteran living near aurora, Illinois... I just picked up the 880 lbs hoist from harbor freight for 112.57 out the door. Lift is going up this week. :-)

Harbor freight has 20 percent discount coupons that they will scan for Veterans.

Default Hardtop with MBRP rack

Anyone have any idea what the weight of the hardtop with a MBRP rack? I have a 2 door freedom top with just the base rack, no front extension. I think the weight is about double just the stock roof, but that is just my guess.

Trying to figure out a good lifting mechanism for this combo. I don't like the single point lift because of the balance issue. The rack give great options for attaching whatever I come up with.

Thanks

Thanks to HG07JKRubi,

I used his guide to build a hardtop hoist.

I used a Electric Hoist, 440lbs cap. bolted to a iron square beam and that's bolted to a 2X10.

Luckily my garage has the height for it, i can walk right underneath it without hitting my head.

This has become "this weeks" project for me. While I know there will be added weight to the actual frame itself doing it this way, but I'm thinking about just using threaded black pipe some t-fittings to make the frame. Any reason why this wouldn't work?

The black pipe may be ok...I believe i was looking at that as well when I designed this hoist. But I went with the channel strut after staring at the ceiling in Home Depot and seeing the strut all over the place up there Either way...good luck with your build.
