Kargo master install
Anybody notice the rack rocking forward and backward when you're crawling slowly up hill, maybe studdering up hill a bit? Mine got to the point that I'm a little worried about it.

I see some people on here have mentioned using rope to stop some of the noise. Is rope used so that the softer material can dampen the vibration? If so, how about putting some spray foam insulation in the tubes? That seems like it may dampen the vibrations and if done at both ends of each tube, it would seal them off so no water would get in and rust them out at the center if the silicone seal wears off at the joints.
Has anyone tried using spray foam insulation or some other material inside the tubes as a sound dampener instead of adding something to the outside of the tube? If you've tried it, how well did it work?

I'm thinking of buying the congo cage for my 2dr and am wondering if the two top tubes that run from front to back are bent at all to accommodate for clearance with the soft top. I'm hoping that they designed it so that the frame sits higher and the two tubes are straight so it will be easier to make my own basket. I know I've seen a couple of 2drs with this, if you could just give it a quick look and let me know it would be much appreciated.

I put mine on a year and half ago, the wind noise is an issue. I am wondering about accessories for it....i.e. lights, basket, etc. Can the basket fit with the yakima or thule cross bars? If anyone knows, or has an opinion that would be great. I have hesitated putting bigger tires or lifting my jeep due to the increased height from the bars and the rack, however think I will just have to park outside if it will not fit in a garage. I am thinking a 2 inch lift with 33's. Seems the additional height is about 5 inches with the rack.
I didn't see this option talked about on here and just installed one myself. Thought some would be interested.
I purchased this Wind Deflector from buyautotruckaccessories.com and the SKU is 60161 (hard to find on their website, it's a little clunky).
After installation, I would say it cuts the wind noise down by 40%. I haven't driven with tops off yet but it certainly makes a difference in my day to day commute. It went on easily enough but encountered the same problem I had with the cage itself, shoddy directions. It runs flat across the front of the headliner and it would have been smart to 'bend' it a bit so the rubber seal (along the bottom) was snugged up across the entire front and flush. However, there are a few channels in the lower part of the piece and that would have made it difficult. The accessory comes with an additional wind screen 'lifter' that bolts on the top (3 bolts) and gives you clearance up to the top of the basket (any cargo in the basket will stick up above the deflector). The directions call for cutting the two rubber grommets that go around your tubes but, I took the front tubes apart and slid the grommets on (wasn't much additional work and gave me a chance to check for rust).
Anyway, for 150.00 (shipping was free), I thought it was a no-brainer. Really cut my noise issue and like the look of it. Will probably get some custom grafix done to throw up there as well.
Bonne chance mes amis.

This has been a very, very informative thread thank you all so much for posting your results. I am ordering mine this weekend. I'll be doing the install with the laptop on hand! Cheers!
