One guy responded about a 2012. Anyone going to try it? I may do it.

Just did it to my 12 in about five minutes for each side, worked like a charm. Sealed up the black wire ends with a hot glue gun and then electric tape.

Sorry, minor thread hijack going on there. For a moment there, we were talking about the ESP mod. The marker light mod is perfect on a 2012, as I did mine last night.

This thread reminds me I disconnected my marker while installing my RR snorkel. Need to hook that back up.

Honestly, why are the engineers at Chrysler so f'ing stupid that they cannot do this mod for us?! They could tout it as a safety feature.

Well I finally did this thing tonight. I took a bit longer than most to do it because I wanted it as stock looking at possible.

I cut the marker lamp black wire close to the harness opposite of the marker lamp, capped off the dead end, and spliced a short piece of wire using a heat shrink butt connector and stuffed it back into the wire loom. Then I jumped it from the marker light wire loom to the front running light wire loom, with a piece of tape wrapped around the loom to keep it from popping out. Down the loom with my new wire lead and used a 3M wire tap to splice it to the outside white wire at the connector. I used a short piece of larger wire loom around the wire tap at the base of the connector and taped it for a somewhat factory look.

If I remember correctly, the driver side connector has a white wire with no strip to be tapped and the passenger side has a white wire with red strip. Well that's a lot of words for a small mod.

Here's a couple pictures:

That's about exactly what I did. But, by using those standard blue splice things, water intrusion into those will eventually cause the wire to rust and corrode and it will eventually fail. It could be years though. I'm military anal about connections, so I use Molex Perma-Seal butt connectors. Totally waterproof and cannot be pulled apart. They're bout $1 a piece, but they will still be connected when the jeep eventually goes to the landfill! I buy them from Waytek.com

I was thinking about a way to make it water tight. I used a nylon heat shrink butt connector with weather proof sealant for the extended piece. I didn't want to cut the other wire so I used the tap. However I may add some gel or RTV sealant to the outside of the connector to help make it water tight.
