Under-Floor Storage
I have seen a few guys use the metal studs for base structure due to weight and strength but it required more work.
I finally pulled the trigger on this project a Lil different with the newer 11' having all the plastic molding in the back but otherwise came out great. I used a piano hinge set up instead(which I need to paint black)
Has anyone found this lock that the op installed it look like a really clean setup. Now only thing left is to incorporate some tie-down points

In your send pic, is it a smooth transition on the right side where the seat folds? Can't tell from the angle and lighting.
Where do you plan to mount the tie-downs?
Yeah it folds great with no interference I cut the plywood a hair shy on both pieces to accommodate the thickness of the carpet. As far as the tie downs go I'm still trying to come up with ideas I would like to be able to tie the heavy stuff down in either position I'm trying to find something that can recess into the wood enough it will remain flush when not needed.
This had been on my list since I first saw it. I just dont have the time. This is my plan for tie downs.

This is what I did. I made the tie-downs, but they are available commercially, as well; just a little different design.

You want to avoid mounting the tie-downs to the wood. The cover just isn't secure enough to hold objects in a crash.

))))
Both of these builds are sweet.
The storage compartments above the floor do take a little away but i think its better than losing clearance dealing with cutting into your floor and what not.
Good write up

I'm having a buddy of mine do a fiberglass setup for me. Hopefully be able to start the process around April when it gets a little warmer. If it all works out he's gonna keep the original molding and look at maybe making them as a side project. I'll report back when we start on the project with more info
