I am trying to figure out a way to put it in the bumper right side up. If I had the Harber Freight universal plate welded to this would it be strong enought?

I have seen others bolt to that but they may have also bolted to the frame as well. I would be tempted to just cut it off and bolt directly to the frame.

Edit: you know the benefit to having the winch plate on top is that your winch is now shielded from the elements. Sunlight, I hear, is really hard on synthetic lines.

Hadn't thought of that. Good point. I am going to have to move whatever that vacuum thing is if I am going to put it in the bumper. Won't fit up or down.

I finished mine today. I could not have done it without all the information on here! I decided to go on top because I didn't want the clutch on the bottom.

Took it step by step and made cuts slow. The longest work was filling in the gaps in the bumper after the cuts.

I very happy with it. It will do for awhile till we pull the trigger on a new bumper.

Default fog light clearence?

Is there anyway to mount the fairlead mount on the plate flush to the bumper and still get
the stock fog lights to clear? I'm try'n to avoid 4" long spacers with a hawse fairlead. Most of you
have used rollers and put the all the way through the plastic but I'm running synthetic and want to
mount the hawse fairlead outside the bumper and just trim the inside back for spacers.
Which in the end will look a bit cleaner on the outside of the bumper if I don't have to much
Frannkensteining behind it that makes it unsafe.

Does your winch line rub the cross member ever when spooled uneven?

Also, What size DOM tubing is everyone using for the spacers and how does it hold up?

I'm halfway through my install. Last things to do is bolt it to the frame and wire it up.
I'm waiting on bolting it down until I'm sure of it's position for fog light clearance.

Thanks,

Tom

@icrush. That looks awesome man. I was going to do the same type of setup with the grill guard hoop attached to the factory bumper. I was thinking about using the rugged ridge hoop from the xhd bumper. Did u buy the one on urs or have it made?
