Winch mount W/factory bumper
Has anyone tried mounting/rigging a remote for the clutch handle using a rod or rigid cable (ala bike shifter or Warn Industries - Accessories for Tow Truck & Industrial Winches: Remote Clutch)
Also curious how many people had issues with the spacers buckling under side loads (diagonal pull) which the engineering side of me thinks would cause issues.
Just bought a mounting plate, winch is next, and am trying to get my ducks in a row.

I have used mine several times now, and no issues. I have checked the bolts and they are still snug.
Going up Dishpan alone and got stuck, had to use 90% of the cable to reach a point to attach, did great.

This has been a good thread and I'm hoping to mount a winch in my factory bumper this winter. I'm curious if anyone has had any trouble with a winch mounted upside down. I found Superwinch cautions against mounting inverted or in an "overwind" position. A Warn manual I read isn't quite as clear, just says only mount in the position shown, which is rightside up. I didn't see anything in a Smittybilt or a Milemarker manual I looked at about not mounting upside down. I think I read thru all of this thread and don't remember seeing anything about mfgrs recommendation for mounting position so I thought I'd ask if anyone had any insight on why Superwinch and maybe Warn make their recommendations.
this ^^^^^ is excellent.
seems strange that an aftermarket company like RR or schrock, lod, or whomever hasn't fabbed up a plate which utilizes the factory bumper like this (where it "hides" in the bumper)
The rouch country factory bumper winch plate doesn't look finished and looks out of place plus sits too high dhielding the radiator from fresh air
