This has been a good thread and I'm hoping to mount a winch in my factory bumper this winter. I'm curious if anyone has had any trouble with a winch mounted upside down. I found Superwinch cautions against mounting inverted or in an "overwind" position. A Warn manual I read isn't quite as clear, just says only mount in the position shown, which is rightside up. I didn't see anything in a Smittybilt or a Milemarker manual I looked at about not mounting upside down. I think I read thru all of this thread and don't remember seeing anything about mfgrs recommendation for mounting position so I thought I'd ask if anyone had any insight on why Superwinch and maybe Warn make their recommendations.

Should be plenty sturdy. They are using winch plates right on the frame so it's plenty strong

Has anyone removed the stock plastic from the front bumper and then installed a winch? I just pulled the plastic off of mine and i'm getting ready to mount up the winch as soon as i get a mounting plate, just wanted to see some pictures if anyone has some.

Have you looked at the pics in this thread? There are several that may be able to help you.
