I see these winch plate things... is that something I'll need? Wouldn't the winch mount right onto the bumper? I guess I just don't get it.
Winch plates are for mounting a winch onto the stock bumper. It gives you a stable mounting platform when you aren't replacing the bumper. Since you're putting on an aftermarket bumper, you won't need it

Awesome!

Thanks for clarifying that. I'd hate to order everything just to find out I overlooked a $60 part.

Have you looked at the new Rough Country winches?

Also... steel or synthetic (in general)... why would you choose one over another?

After a few phone calls a wrecker pulled up about 1-1/2 later and towed me to the dealer service shop allllllllllllll the way to southwest Tulsa and the shop manager said it should be done on Sunday around 12-3. I just got home and still frustrated but luckily tulsa freightliner service shop runs 3 shifts 7 days a week. sorry guys i really wanted to be there to lend a hand and get those lifts on and meet a few that i haven't already

I just did that - when I ordered all the TF lift components, I forgot to order the Coil Guides/Spacers and David said he'll overnight express them to me so that it'll be here tomorrow. Cost me $50.00 but it beats having to take the coils apart later to slide those in again I guess . Definitely appreciated him coming through with it.

And yes, I did see the RC winches - I think they're made by Mile Marker - if you looked at one of their models on the the RC page, the url link mentions Mile Marker .

As far as wire or synthetic - several benefits and disadvantages. Advantages of synthetic over rope - weight and primarily, if something were to snap when winching, you don't have a projectile getting ready to take someone's head off. Disadvantage - price, usually and you have to be careful with synethic or you could fray/splice the fibers. Another advantage of synthetic is that you don't have to unwind the whole winch and recoil it back before using like you have to do with wire rope.

I saw your other post about your truck. That sucks, but at least you were able to pull off before ruining the engine.

Feel free to bring over a few mods. We can try and grab some of those. Somehow I doubt my Jeep will take all day... but with the sleeves, it might.
no hurry on mine. just wish we could have gotten you on the road

Better the Freightliner than the JK though, right? Does the company fix the trucks I take?

sorry i was eating dinner. yeah i was pretty pissed, i have been at work since 7 a.m. and got home just a little bit ago. this is what happens when they try to charge the batteries instead of maintaining them but it was bound to happen. this cold weather takes a toll on batteries and on a voltage system as big as that I am surprised at least one battery didn't blow up. there are 4 batteries and I know that when we pulled the cover off that 2 were ruined and they aren't cheap. they have to make sure that throwing the belt didn't mess anything up internally. what a day

Jason I will be there around 9 ish working on things is good therapy for me for some reason
