Hey guys. Just a thought. In OK the third brake light is mandatory. Before I trimmed mine my buddy looked it up in his OHP manual. Now that doesn't mean they'll stop you. Just FYI.

huh, what I heard was that it wasn't mandatory to "keep" one. All new vehicles must be sold with one, but doesn't mean you have to have it on to be legal, but that if you do have one on the vehicle, it must be functioning. In other words, if you leave it on but unplug it or bulb is out then that's a problem. But that's just what I have heard on here.

Also, what is the "grinding may be needed" step on the lower bump stop alignment to prevent the tailgate from denting?

Does you tailgate close freely? I guess my gate still isn't aligned right, because it needs to be slamed shut

I must say, this OR-Fab tire carrier sucks already. I haven't even finished installing it yet and I want to send it back
No, there's no latch pin from OR-Fab, but several people have come up with creative ways - such as using clips, pins, etc. that were tied to the carrier. Personally, I used a little suitcase lock on there for a while, but then got tired of needing a key to get in the back each time and haven't used anything there. If you have it tightened right, it'll latch fine and not come undone, but for peace of mind, you could use something of this sort tethered to the carrier with a link or rope to make it easy to secure it.

The "Grinding may be needed" is on the lower part of the carrier - you'll notice a round lump of rubber - like a stopper. Once you have it aligned, see if the rubber pushes/touches the metal - it should just need to touch and rest against the metal, not push into it - if need be, grind some of the rubber off to make it sit right, but make sure you don't take too much off.

Yes, my tailgate opens and closes freely - just like it did before the carrier - it's not hard to align that up - it's just hard to do it if you don't have it secured. Like I said in a previous post - what helped me is that I aligned the tailgate after making sure it was shut, latched and locked. Having one end secure made it easy to see where the bolts needed to be, and then I tweaked it just a little once it was aligned.

I thought OK doesn't have a mandatory 3rd Brake Light law - but if the vehicle has a 3rd Brake Light, but the light was out - you could get pulled over for a brake light out - just like you could with the regular brake lights. There are plenty of vehicles made without 3rd Brake Lights?

x2. What he said . I guess I could ask the Chief of Police or the OHP Superintendent the next time I see them at the dealership to see what it really is.

You mean you'd have to give them a reason to stop you before they'd see it wasn't there?

AEV 3.5, I spend more time on the pavement than off so I wanted a more
"overland" style but with pretty good capabilities off road as well I figured I can always throw on upper and lower CAs later if need be.

Nice choice for a lift. I presume going to a 3.5", it comes with a way for caster correction in the front? You'll need in the very minimum front Lower Control Arms to adjust your caster. Looks like you're definitely headed in the right direction . Be sure to post up some pictures once the lift's up. You planning on installing the lift yourself or having a shop do it? I'd highly recommend doing it yourself - plenty of people around to give a hand with it

Ain't that the truth. Like they say - if you can't be good, be good at being bad
