He tells me they are a bit behind and it will be a couple of weeks before it can ship. Thats ok as dont see any wheelin for a couple months anyway.

Thanks for everyones input; it is greatly appriciated!
After you add the new DS can you
Raise it up from the bumper and show us a pic at full droop

I cannot see how just a DS can fix
The exhaust clearance issue on a 12

From what I understand the new shaft will start to angle down further forward from the transfer case with the cardan joint giving the needed exhaust clearance. I currently have a 12 jku with 3.5" in the front and the angle of the front shaft coming out of the transfer case is unnerving. I have a manual though so I believe that gives me more clearance on the exhaust, but probably a more severe angle. I'd like to see how a shaft only works for you since I'm currently considering the coast 1310 AND exhaust spacers.

Aside from getting back clearance from the exhaust pipe is there clearance problems with the side of the tranny pan? I know for the auto trannies on the 07-'11s that was the main issue with clearance....

On the 12 Auto there's no clearance issue with the trans and DS

I'm not saying the new DS won't work
I just want to see pics

It is. I even took the heat shield off mine, just for peace of mind.

But the 3" FT lift and 1310 JE Reel combo works great.

Here's a pic of mine still on the lift at full droop, before everything was torqued to spec, caster adjusted, etc. Got a little more clearance after that.

Ref above kind of depends on the extension you get out of the suspension and shocks... When you get the new DS post up let us know how it works out for you with your setup and the TF lift and shocks.

Default Driveshaft Installed-Problem Solved!!

I installed the new Coast drive shaft and this has given me plenty of clearance now. Since the new shaft is about 1 1/2" smaller in diameter and the pivot point is extended further from the xfer case this now gives me an inch or inch and a half clearance at full droop. Perfect!

If you have a 2012 and want to lift it ( I did)....

Get exhaust spacers. Its a fairly quick install although getting the Y-pipe to slide back once you chisel off the spot weld and loosen the clamp is not easy. Just moving the exhaust out of the way of the DS is something you should do with any lift on a 2012.

Get a a new front DS. The front one will fail its just a matter of time. Especially if you opt for front discos it is an absolute must.

Also, i put my lift on yesterday and there was one thing I did not account for. I will have to buy front brake line extensions. At full droop with the disconnects undone, I would tear the factory ones apart.

So IMO get the sapcers, get a DS, and get the front brake line extensions and you should be well on your way to off road bliss.
