BDS lift kits
i would think you would be fine with the stock drive shafts at that height... you could keep an eye on them look and see if the boot gets ripped up or anything , but i would think you would be fine... if you go any higher i would replace the shafts.
Im running the 4.5 bds with gas shocks and one stabilizer on 37s. The dual stabilizer is not needed. I also have the factory driveshafts with no problem even at full flex. I think it rides great on and off road.
that's because you have a four door. I have a 2 door and I'm trying to decide between a TF2.5" kit which is HARD to find around here at shops. The local shop only does BDS and its either 2" or 3" and nothing else. I would love to go 3" but worry about driveshafts.
You can install the 2.5" kit yourself. It's not that hard to do. I bet you could even find a couple of local forum members to help out.
Cheers
Problem is - I work full time and go to school full time and working on my MS Thesis as well. I work about 16 hours a day.
No garage and no tools. I have socket wrenches and a torque wrench, but that's about it.
i think the key word that needs to be stated is - "yet". with 3" of lift or more on a 2-door, your rear driveshaft WILL be at a much steeper angle and this will put your CV boots in a constant state of pinch. over time, this will cause the boot to fail. most of the guys i know have been able to get about a years worth of driving in before this happend... some less. once the boot has been compromised, it's only a matter of time before the bearings fail and then you WILL need to replace your shaft. please note, this is not a lift kit brand issue but rather, an issue created by the amount of lift you have.
how much is your shop charging you to install your lift? if you put the word out in your staging area, i'd be willing to bet that someone would help you out if not a small army of people to help out. heck, if you lived out here in socal, i'd install your lift for free.
