Thumbs up

Thanks for the info in this thread guys, I was able to install the EVO-CHRT5 without issue (was the first mod on the new JK) and it works great. As others have mentioned, it took longer to neatly tuck the unit in the dash area than to actually install/program it. Note that the tilt-steering could potentially pinch/wear the wiring...so place the unit out of it's range of motion.

I would also like to thank everyone for the heads up and tips for install. My unit arrived today and I was able to quickly install it without issue thanks to the many helpful posts here. It really would have been a 5 minute install if it were not for rats nest that I discovered in my dash. It turns out that my Jeep (bought used) has the Mopar remote start installed already. Whoever put it in though, did a really poor job. I was concerned about pulling any of it out just in case it would immobilize my Jeep so I did some wire management and cleaned it all up. Anyway, that took much longer than installing the new unit. I also assume that since I only have one, two button factory key, the unit I just installed probably cost significantly less than getting the factory unit working.

Thanks again!

Spliced the yellows and trimmed the hell out of the rest of the unused stuff. You can also see I left the purple/white long for grounding purposes. Thanks again!

Ordered mine and it should be here soon; but since you cut all these wires so short do they even need to be plugged in or can they just be ignored all together?

What's their website , sorry at work right now and don't want to go back through all the pages to find it , maybe we can try calling them and asking. I've heard they can do remote starts with powerless doors and windows but do not know about this brand everyone is talking about.

Ok.....so I'm completely confused. I don't mind saving when I can by doing things myself. I am pretty handy for the most part.

Is this thing plug n play or not?! I read some say they just hooked it up and all good and then others say you have to hook it up, put it in neutral, ground purple wires, all while jumping up and down naked and drinking diet sprite. Make sure not reg sprite! GEEZ!

So what is it? Does anyone know the exact part to order for JUST remote start capabilities only? And is it just going to be plug n play?

If not, I'd rather just have someone who knows what they are doing install one. Have spent way too much on my Jeep to have it get fried by $100 remote start because it doesn't do what promised.

Any input appreciated

I think it depends on seller. I think one is not programming it right or something. Either way it's still an easy install. Don't think it's caused anyone any real issues.

They do need plugged in as there is 1 or 2 wires per connector that are required.

I just got my auto start tonight and it's already installed thanks to all the people's input on this forum. My instructions didn't say anything about splicing the two yellow wires together or grounding the purple wire either but i did and it works great. It took longer to take apart the column cover and put back together then it did to do the wiring. Thanks for sharing the info.
