Looks like their pretty close. I am interested to see Camp's finshed product. My fear on the AEV is getting water dripping constantly into the engine. I may be moving to Canada and snow would be sitting on there a lot.

these are all cosmetic in nature and do not add much value unless there is some speed to force the air in. try crawling without the hood on if you are worried about heat.

On looks alone, the AEV hood has my vote.

The benefits of each would take more research than I am interested in doing.

I have to vote AEV. I've already dented my stock hood and my AEV hood. I can only imagine the damage I would do to a plastic hood.

Default Undecided...

I'm holding off my vote; I think they both look drop dead beautiful and both are functional too. So, for now I'm undecided.

Anyone currently with the AEV hood; can you comment on the idea of too much water getting in via the top hood mesh? Is that true or just perceived?

I bet both of these release a lot of hot air out from under the hood. Man, I bet they both work as great "external" window defrosters in the winter too.

I put a completely fiberglass hood on an old '77 Z-28 and I didn't even think about the strength of it back then (I just knew not to sit on it, but I never sit on my hood anyway), now you have these super strong composite hoods, I would fear even less about their strength.

I just wish they were a bit cheaper. Maybe David could start carrying these TMD hoods?

I am lookng forward to camp's version to see wht it looks like. I wish someone on here with an AEV would talk about water on the engine too. That would probably make the choice a little harder.

I haven't had any problems with water, snow, etc on my engine. It definitely gets in there but it has not affected anything. People drive through water all the time with their Jeeps and pressure wash their engine bays, why would anyone worry about rain getting in?

Now, since I've had the RIPP Supercharger the pulleys it came with have some light surface rust, but that's cosmetic and easily comes off, although I am considering having them powder coated to avoid that, just because I think it doesn't look great. As far as functioning though, the water hasn't impacted anything at all.

I don't like the idea of water and snow on top of my engine. If the AEV hood does that, that probably would make me lean towards the TMD.

AEV has mentioned that the engine was designed as a wet compartment meaning all the electronic connectors are weatherproof. I wouldn't worry about a little mesh letting in some water on top. When it rains you are getting much more moisture coming through the bottom of the engine.
