Poll time AEV vs. TMD Hood
Looks like their pretty close. I am interested to see Camp's finshed product. My fear on the AEV is getting water dripping constantly into the engine. I may be moving to Canada and snow would be sitting on there a lot.
I'm holding off my vote; I think they both look drop dead beautiful and both are functional too. So, for now I'm undecided.
Anyone currently with the AEV hood; can you comment on the idea of too much water getting in via the top hood mesh? Is that true or just perceived?
I bet both of these release a lot of hot air out from under the hood. Man, I bet they both work as great "external" window defrosters in the winter too.
I put a completely fiberglass hood on an old '77 Z-28 and I didn't even think about the strength of it back then (I just knew not to sit on it, but I never sit on my hood anyway), now you have these super strong composite hoods, I would fear even less about their strength.
I just wish they were a bit cheaper. Maybe David could start carrying these TMD hoods?

I am lookng forward to camp's version to see wht it looks like. I wish someone on here with an AEV would talk about water on the engine too. That would probably make the choice a little harder.

Now, since I've had the RIPP Supercharger the pulleys it came with have some light surface rust, but that's cosmetic and easily comes off, although I am considering having them powder coated to avoid that, just because I think it doesn't look great. As far as functioning though, the water hasn't impacted anything at all.
AEV has mentioned that the engine was designed as a wet compartment meaning all the electronic connectors are weatherproof. I wouldn't worry about a little mesh letting in some water on top. When it rains you are getting much more moisture coming through the bottom of the engine.
