Hey Guys,
I want to let every one know I would rate this a semi difficult install. The JK body is very thin sheet metal , so we have had to take extra care and time in making sure these are installed properly. We sell a lot of these and most customers don't have a problem. I suggest that you be comfortable with drilling into your body, understand how to install a nut zert ( they can be difficult and will strip if they are nut aligned perfectly). Even though this installation is difficult, it leads to having more ground clearance than a frame mounted system and a very sturdy rocker. I am sorry for the difficulties some have had, but many have found that the installation helps create one of the best rockers on the market. I would love to see pics of your rockers in use. Feel free to hit me with any questions.

I have a couple questions....I will be ordering a set in the next 2 weeks. Have you updated the instructions with comments from this forum? Also Have read about bolts either missing or being too short, has this been addressed? I have the PJ rear bumper and it is hands down the best I have ever owned and does an AWESOME job protecting my Jeep. Looking forward to this new PJ product but can't afford for my jeep to be down for weeks while I am drilling through the body and awaiting missing parts.
Thanks, Brent

my post from the other thread but felt it needed to be added here as well.
Some things I think should be considered when drilling the holes.
Do not drill all the way through with the 1/4" bit until you have the sleeves in.
Also dont use the 1/2" bit if you have one size smaller available, and absolutely step up to that size. 1/4",5/16",3/8" etc.. until you get one size below the 1/2" I used a 7/16" bit and then only drilled the outside panel carefully with the 1/2" I then inserted the sleeves and tapped them in with a hammer. after they were seated I drilled the final panel with the 1/4" bit using the sleeve as a template. This worked much better than just following the instructions method.

The rivet tool worked fine for me, Ive noticed a few had issues with it. Id suggest maybe coating the threads with grease as it seemed to make it easier to use.
Other than that read my story below.

Total time of install on drivers side.... 3 hours. 1 of which was spent looking for a long enough 1/4" drill bit. also spent a bit of time trial fitting it to make sure it lined up correctly.

Update two...
Finally received the passenger side rail today. Purejeep sent it out ground. normally that wouldn't be an issue, but they were shipped out originally a week later than promised and then after they make a mistake they take the cheap route to get me the correct part causing me to miss out on a planned wheeling trip. Gee thanks guys
I was also missing some of the hardware and had to drive all over town to find the correct length stainless bolts, So total time to install 9 days.....
One of the reasons I hate buying used parts is missing hardware. It really urks me when I order new ones and something is missing. I have better things to do in my free time than to drive all over looking for that magical bolt or nut etc... /rant

I disagree, You should drill the 1/4 hole all the way through the first time around. It would be to easy to screw this up.

When you have the rockers lined up to mark the holes.just drill the holes completely through the tub. On the one holes on the sides. Its easier than just marking them and you know they'll be right.

Also use a unibit, rather than switching out drill bits, the 1/2 is very sharp. however it wont go through all the layers because of the length. So just buy a 1/2 drill bit. It'll finish the inside holes without a problem.

On the nutsert holes, just stop shy of a 1/2". it'll give the nutsert more bite, you wont that to be a tight insert.

I didnt have issues with bolt lenght on my two installs,. they were definetly just long enough, but were not an issue

I agree to disagree. Not sure how you could screw it up by not drilling the last layer. and by waiting til you get the inserts in, It ensures the hole inside lines up with the inserts. As for the nut serts, what ever way you do it, dont use a 1/2" bit. they are 3/8's and anything larger will net a loose zert.
Glad you got all the hardware. seems a few of us did not and seems pure jeep doesn't care. I ordered mine via Northridge and Dave passed on the missing hardware issues and they didn't send new hardware.

Wayne,
I assure you we care. I am sorry your trip got delayed but I did my best to get you out what you asked me for. I wasn't made aware by you or anyone else that you were missing hardware. I wish I would have known about the hardware so I could have made your life easier. I believe I made contact with you on the 18th after reading your post and your rocker shipped by the 19th. I do what I can to help sir. If there is anything else I can do to help please don't hesitate.

Measure 5 times and drill once.
Its really not that hard, but check to make sure you have all the hardware needed and that you have one drivers side and one passenger side.
One other small note. If you have a body lift the front of the rockers will need to be trimmed on the bottom side. Ill try and get pics up soon.

I just want to chime in here that the install on these things was kind of ridiculous. I know I should have called for help (Piginajeep), but I kid of wanted to attempt this myself and test how handy I really am. I love these rockers and am very satisfied with them now that I am finished. I will post pics eventually, but right now I am just thankful I am done

Issues I had: The little bracket tool they give you to drill the holes into the body at an angle did not line up all that great. Didn't fit the contour of the side of the jeep and although I was able to get the angle somewhat right, it took me a few time to figure out just how to do it to ensure I was drilling through the right place.

It was a real pain to drill through all the layers of metal...at some points it really seemed like the drill would not get through it all, especially where you are drilling through the 4 layers, and 3 layers, etc.

I am not sure that I did the front part right or wrong but the "crush sleeves" up front don't seem to reinforce the body all that well...if I push hard enough on the body above the front-most bolt, it seems as though it could come apart from the actual rocker. It doesn't look like it will be a real issue down the road, cause I pumped a ton of extra silicone in there, but it seems odd to me that no one else mentioned this.

And, lastly, my passenger side bolts were just barely long enough to get the nuts on. I was confused when I put these on, so I actually took them off and remeasured them to make sure they were the correct length. Sure enough, they were. It was strange to me how close to the end of the bolt the nut sits. It is tight now, but I just didn't like the tiny little end of the bolt that stuck out.

Took me all day Saturday, and some of Sunday

the brackets wont fit the contour, just lay it flat

would you rather just have all nutzerts to attach outer thin skin to the body like most rockers, imagine how strong they are..not

Are you taking about the sheet metal? it pushes in on every jeep, its junk. It the skids on correctly, it ties the inner and outter layer together.

Just thought give some input to your issues
