Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
I just returned from using the Superchips with the 'Off-Road' mode, and I really hated it. The main change I noticed was the change in throttle response. It initially (as you press it) is very slow to respond, supposedly to give you more control at slow speed. Not what I was used to though, so it was annoying. OK, I can get used to it, whatever.
Then however, at about 2000 RPM, it suddenly surges ahead to 2500 RPM, and the Jeep lurches forward! What's up with that?! I could not keep it between 2000 and 2500 RPM - absolutely horrible control. I will not be using the 'off-road' mode again.
I also had a chance to try the 'trailer tow' mode, towing a 3000 lb. tent trailer. What I noticed was a change in the shift points, to be much less agressive, and a smoother more enjoyable drive. Going uphill in 3rd (O/D off of course), it would put the throttle all the way down (the Scangauge said the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) was 85 = maxed out), but would not downshift to 2nd. Rather, it just chugged up the hill as best it could, until it dropped to around 45 MPH, and then it would downshift to 2nd. Much nicer, than reving the motor like crazy in 2nd gear, trying to keep it at exactly 65.

Thanks for the informative reply Scott. That makes perfect sense to me. In fact, BoggerSwap's post just before this is a perfect example of how one person might like a particular tune and another person might hate it. As you mentioned, Jeep has to keep the Rock Crawlers and Mall Crawlers happy (the best they can anyway) so there is no perfect program for everyone. Perhaps the Jeep should come stock with the SuperChips built into the mygig
I don't like any of the tunes. They all spark knock in my jeep. I only use it for tire pressures and speedo changes. Even the speedo settings need to be double checked with gps. My 35's are set as 32.5 in flashpaq to be correct.
It is useful for that. For what I use it for I paid too much.

We are aware of a few states following CARB emissions standards that increase their ethanol content substantially over other states reducing useable octane which has led to those issues.
Here are some suggestions to help resolve the issue for you:
- Try fuel from different companies. Exxon may not work but maybe Citgo may do better for you.
- If using the 87 tune and you are experiencing knock try 89. If in the 91 performance setting experiencing knock then try 93 octane.
The increase in octane might help counteract your vehicles issues with the fuel blends being produced for your state and may help solve the pinging issues you are experiencing.

It's been quite a challenge getting through the extra security in these new PCM's Chrysler has equipped in all of their 2011-12 line.
We are working hard to finish this task and bring these products to market so that you can enjoy what they have to offer. Once I receive data on a release date I will definitely be posting it up.
Thanks once again for your patience!

I discovered a few stations pushing E15 and the higher blend sucks - EPA and ethanol are a joke but that's a whole other topic.
"t's been quite a challenge getting through the extra security in these new PCM's Chrysler has equipped in all of their 2011-12 line."
What's the purpose of the 'security' there? Is Chrysler trying to prevent aftermarket programmers? Or, is there some other purpose for the 'security' ??

Encryption to make it so Chrysler is not erronously paying out warrantee claims on damage done to vehicles that may otherwise for some freak reason be blamed on a programmer.
It's a cost cutting measure by mother Mopar.
