Default Am I the only guy with bad luck using Treadwright???

I would pay that $100 per set just because I trust the new tire more. Plus the warranty sucks if you read through it. It only covers the retreading process, not the casing.
This past summer I bought a set of Guard Dogs (285/75R16) and ran them about 4000 miles. The guys at Discount tire noted the carcasses were manufactured in 2000 - so they were 11 years old. The ride was a little squirrely - the entire jeep just seemed to "drift" around at higher speeds. I assumed it was from the lift I had just put on myself. Well, last week I had one of the tires develop a slow leak so I took it in. They found that the (11 year old) carcass was beginning to split near the bead. The actual retread area was fine, but the carcass was bad. I contacted Treadwright (with pictures), but have so far ignored me. Their guarantee only covers the retread portion - so I doubt I'll hear back from them. So if you buy a set of these - just be aware of how old the carcasses are and the possibility of them splitting from age. I bought these based on the glowing reviews I've read from fellow members here and 4x4 guys on other forums. I couldn't find even ONE negative experience! So I guess I'm the first! Anyway, I plan on using one of them as a spare and a guy from work wants to buy the other 2. So not a total loss. I just had some new Kumho Road Ventures mounted. They are a more aggressive looking tire and make more noise at low speeds, but almost none at high (go figure). Anyway, that "drift" problem I had? Gone now. It must have been the Treadwrights. The Jeep feels rock solid straight while driving at highway speeds now. Just something else to consider. For me, I'd say I've learned my lesson and will spend a little more for new in the future. As I stand now, I've spent $1800 on tires (retreads+new) when I could have only spent $1200 and had new all along, just sayin'...

I agree... Those 4 contact patches are the only thing that holds your vehicle to the road. I will never skimp on tires.

Sucks for you, mine came with good year mtr kevlar cases. Which i have heard balance terribly. Those are not more than a couple years old tops. They didn't call you to confirm your order and give you a choice of cases? Maybe i just got lucky.

You guys that are running tread weights. Do you guys recommend the crushed walnut and glass option? Or just stick with the regular rubber?

ive been reading a TON of websites and reviews and intel on the treadwrite tires and havnt really found any thing bad..accept for the one poster ho had the old casings. mhy only issue is im trying to determine fitment

i have a 2013 4 door JK and will have a 3 in lift on it. I want to run an AT tire with out running spacers.so im looking at 285/70/17s on the .
stock rims.

due to the added height from the re treading will i need to add a spacer at that size?

How noisy are the guard dogs versus the stock rubicon tires?
