if i pull it out of first and let is fall back to the center of the gear posistions, between 3 and 4, and then put it into 2, i dont have a problem. i imagine its just the extra time allowing parts to stop moving. of course this isnt really an acceptable solution long term.

with the warm temps today, I had no issues. next time i head past my dealer i'll mention it i suppose. and I'm in MD as well. heh wtf?
Syncromesh fluid is supposed to be real light so i question the warm weather thing. I suspect that you have some bad syncros, as my 08 shifts the same on a hot day or a cold day. I have seen syncormesh save TR8 transmissions from needing rebuilding.

If its under warranty, there should be no issue getting it fixed, be prepared to take the service writer out for a drive to show him the condition this way the tech can say did not reproduce the complaint.

Nice ! I've sent this TSB to my dealer, waiting for news. Mine has a new tranny ( replaced ) and I want to be sure that the new synchro is inside.. better be safe than sorry. They'll do the TSB upon reception of the parts.

Thanks man for the revised TSB !

That's crazy man.
My last Jeep was a manual - this time, against my better judgement, I got an auto (sit in LA traffic more than anything else).
But the auto's have their problems too. The FIRST time I took it up into the mountains I got a "HOT OIL" message after driving up a dirt road for only 10 minutes. And this road was nothing extreme - I could have driven my wife's mini cooper up it if I wanted to.

I found out the "HOT OIL" message meant the auto trans was overheating.
Now what amazed me is that my brand new, "Trail Rated", 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited can't handle a simple mountain road for 10 minutes.
I called several dealers to ask about the problem (about 5) - ALL of them acted like they had no idea what I was talking about.
Some dealers said they'd "buy back" mine so I could buy a 6-speed and be done with it - but I'd end up losing about $9,000 after the trade-in!

When you said the dealership would "buy back" yours - would you be out of pocket any? Would they just be giving you a standard trade-in price? Or because of your situation would they make some exception?
Because I wanted nothing more than to trade in my auto piece-of-crap for a 6-speed, but the most they'd give me was $24,000 (I paid $30,500) - so I'd lose $5,500 there, plus another $3500 in taxes on the new 6-speed.
Losing $9000 for the exact same Jeep, only a manual instead of an auto - that doesn't make sense.

that sucks brother, hopefully it doesnt effect you, the 4inch lift wont help either unless your dealership is mod friendly...
