2013 CB Mount
I used the Smittybilt GEAR overhead console and folded the Molle fabric under itself so it was on the rear part of the console only, then had the cb mounted on the forward part and all the power wires run under all the trim which gave it a professional look. Even got the high end unit that has a digital display of the gauges that you can change to match the color of the jeep. But sadly now I will be shipping it to Africa for my next posting for two years, and it isn't allowed in country so out it goes, lol...

has any one else tried this? if so do you have any pics or more info.
thanks.
It's the center mount for a Misch overhead storage tray that I didn't end up using. Probably not worth buying the tray for $170 just for the mount! I've emailed Misch and suggested they sell these for cb mounts and they said they'd consider it. That was recent though, I don't know what they've done in that regard.
One thing I found that I just put on my Mopar sunbonnet last week and it's strap goes through the footman loop also. I was barely able to get the strap through the footman loop with my cb mount in place - just barely. The other things people have done with the hardware from the hardware store leave the footman loop more open for things like that.

You can also see my ham remote head mounted with sticky back Velcro on the visor, perfect position for it and it's extremely lightweight.
I mounted mine inside of my glove box, with my antenna running up the side of my roll cage. I had the intention of running external speakers running somewhere inside of the jeep. Any suggestions on where to put them so it doesn't interfere with the mic.
We did some testing when I had my antenna's pretty close to my roll bars on my 2006 LJR, and moving them 1 ft away from the roll bars made a big SWR difference. You might consider something else for your antenna.
When I removed my Mopar Sunbonnet yesterday the strap was really tight to pull through my Misch bracket mount, worried that doing that many times could fray the strap. So today I re-mounted mine the same way that USMC Wrangler did his. I bought 1" angle brackets from Ace, they look shorter than his. One thing to be careful of is that the straight side of the insulated wire loops must go on the outside of the footman loop or the spacing will be too short to match the slotted hoes in the CB bracket. This mount puts the CB closer to the windshield so the antenna cable has to turn tighter and it isn't as pretty as my Misch bracket was, but it's functionally better to be able to use the footman loop. Solid as a rock.

That's right about placement of the insulated loop brackets on the footman loop...flat edges to the outside. It is a tight turn for the antenna wire but I'm happy I didn't have to drill or cut any interior pieces.
Well I think I've finally decided on a mounting location for mine. Looks like under the glove box is about the best spot. My brother wants me to mount it in the center console, but it would barely fit, and it would take a lot of my storage space. I was originally going to mount it next to the shifter on the passenger side, but it bothered me because my leg would rest against it. Over the mirror is out of the question since it is too big to fit. Hopefully I'll get the motivation to finally get it mounted soon.
Cobra system... I want to install a CB and don't know where to. I really dont want to see the radio.
Does this cobra eliminate the radio?
Cobra Electronics 75 WX ST - Cobra® 75 WX ST Compact/Remote Mount CB Radio - Quadratec
Anybody have this?

Yep, that's what I want. So the hand held portion acts as the radio where you can change channels, etc... You only need the box which can be hidden which I guess is the receiver. Shweet!
