Here's a pair of sites from a fellow adventurist (and a friend of mine) with loads of info and stories. However both are more geared towards international travel.

theroadchoseme . com and wikioverland . org

Looks like a pretty nice trip Mark! (as always)..

Was the guy in the white JK + trailer without the snorkel not worried about flooding the engine? The water was fairly close to the stock intake height.
And I always wonder if any water gets into the interior of the Jeep on a crossings like that?

Awesome snow drive! Look at some of my earlier videos and you'll see I've come a ways--many were similar to this one. LOL. Still have a lot to learn about video and sound, though. It's a whole new challenge for me, a still photographer for many decades now.

Good questions. Yes, he was worried driving across the river. In fact, a year ago I helped him to put an AEV hood on that Jeep so that he could get a snorkel and put it on for trips like this and take it off when not on a trip. Let me clarify: This isn't his Jeep. It is his wife's (you can hear her in the GoPro shot from my Jeep because she drove mine to drop me off on the other side so I could shoot the video). And she doesn't like snorkels on her daily driver. So this was a compromise. Except she didn't like the AEV hood, so we ended up pulling it off the next day. After he got across and she crossed the third time (behind him this time), he went up to her and said, "Honey, this is why we need a snorkel." Let's just say we'll all have to wait to hear the rest of the story. ;-)

There was very mild leaking on some of the Jeeps. Mostly because some of us have put the sill guards on the doors and they leak there. I'd estimate no more than a couple tablespoons. However, I learned after it happened when the Toyota Four Runner crossed that a huge amount of water came gushing out when he opened his door. LOL: I missed a great video opportunity there! Sadly, we were further down the road when someone mentioned it or I'm sure he'd have gone back into the river just so I could shoot it. Of course, it was also about this time that his alternator failed, which is a whole other story!

Thanks Mark. It's true, you never stop learning as long as you're willing to learn.

Thank you!

It's near where I live, in canton Zug.
What you see there isn't what I'd call a trail. It's a paved mountain road they don't plow.
