Expedition Modded Jeeps - Let's see 'em!!
I looked at a lot of different snorkels before I chose the Rugged Ridge. AEV: Wouldn't work because I have teraflex hood struts, and not a big fan of the black snake running down the side either. River Raider: Really really liked this snorkel, however can't run dual batteries (which I eventually want to do) and I don't like the extension. ARB: Nice but expensive and you have to cut a big hole in the fender. Also wasn't real sure about the mounting with the Gobi. Rugged Ridge: Very little cutting and can be put back to stock if needed. Also Gobi sells a bracket just for this snorkel to work with the rack. Can put the low mount on if needed and no one even notices it. All in all it was definitely the best choice to work with the Gobi for what I wanted.

The cowl panel is left off and not reused.
Hope that helps.
The install was relatively easy. you take the whole fender off, Drill out a few rivets, which held the cowl on. Then you cut the top of the fender about 6 inches long, maybe an inch wide. Here is a copy of the instructions. http://www.omix-ada.com/instructions/17756.06.pdf The cowl panel is left off and not reused. Hope that helps.
OK, I have been reading this thread for several weeks now and have watched all of Marks very entertaining video's. I have had my Rubicon for 2 years now and have only done a couple of mods to it. 2.5" lift, Curry tow / skid plate, because we tow it w/ our RV, I had really lacked a vision for my JK until now. My wife uses it as her DD, however eventually it will become my dedicated Overland Expedition Rig. Thanks to the many contributors here that have shared their https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/images/attach/jpg.gif ideas and experience for all of us. I have made a few excursions, but nothing too treacherous here is a shot at the GC in 2011.
Main reason why I try my damndest to stick to 60 - even when the speed limit is more (there's always multiple lanes in that case). I managed 17.5 MPG towing my trailer in the flats last fall... But was only around 13 in the mountains - which wasn't enough to make it the 520 km (320 miles) to the next major center (I use the term loosely). Yay for jerry cans. Now to get a slightly better setup to hold them. This is only with the trailer (weighs around 1300 lbs loaded), without I can make it - but have maybe an 1/8th of a tank.
