Mark,

I'm shedding my rack for an ARB Simpson III for this years adventures. My question for you is this, have you ever mounted an awning to your rack? Or do you know anyone who has added an awning to an MBRP rack? Trying to find a 'best practice" for an awning mount.

Thanks! K

A friend of mine who used to post here on JKF (many of the first few pages of this thread included his images) had an awning mounted to his MBRB rack--both with and without the extension. His name is Mark Van De Velden--you can track him down on FB if you have questions. He's since moved from Brunei (where the Jeep was) to Belgium, so no longer owns the Jeep. But he's a super nice fellow if you want to contact him. If so, let me know and I"ll message him so that he expects your questions. Here are a couple pics of his rig ...

Thanks Mark! I found one of his old posts concerning "our" MRBP rack and mounting a Simpson III RTT which was great for me since I just ordered one. Thanks again for the referral!!

If anyone is interested, over the past month and a half I've been sharing with some close friends a review of my (and my friend, Ray) Al-Can trip last year. I've taken those posts and compiled them into a Word document. They are a remembrance of the trip, written one day at a time. In writing that, each day I reviewed all of the images I shot during that day of the trip and shared some I had not previously shared--I guess you'd call these the rejects, LOL. Anyway, the document is almost 150 pages long, but that's mostly images. If anyone wished, I can provide you a link to download it from Dropbox. Just PM me your e-mail address.

These will give you an idea of what it's like ...

The mounting tabs are actually perfectly spaced for the rails on the bottom of the tent. The problem is to use all eight of the rail slide tabs you need to fabricate a small riser.

I haven't seen a ton of info on this rack, especially on a two door. It is a Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform with their Backbone system and I'm extremely happy with it so far and have plans to mount an RTT on top for summer. If anyone wants any other info feel free to ask.
Looks great! I haven't seen the Rhino Platform Rack on many 2 doors either, but it looks killer and I like the low profile. Post some pics once you get that RTT on there.

Ive got the Rhino Rack Backbone as well. Love this rack. Its been up there most of the summer. I was also told by Rhino Rack I can hoist and store the top from the rack, dont think Ill try it but was told it was designed to do so.
