Why the 2 door?
So for everyone that thinks it looks more traditional because it is shorter, does that mean that the cj5 is more of a Jeep than the cj7 because the cj7 was actually 10 inches longer than the cj5?
For everyone that says that it handles better off road, are you REALLY going places that the extra length wouldn't allow you to go?
For everyone that is single and doesn't have kids or any friends that they want to take with them when they enjoy their Jeep, what would you do if you did have people that you wanted/needed to take with you places.
I definitely can see that they both have their own advantages, but I just can't wrap my mind around all of the people on a JEEP JK FORUM that refuse to give the Unlimited drivers any respect. I know that a majority of the people that have posted to this thread are not in the group that have hatred for the Unlimited, as quite a few of you have said you would/will some day buy one, I am just curious as to why some people can't wrap their heads around why some of us bought the Unlimited and have gone as far as to say that they won't even give them the Jeep wave.
And if you can't tell the difference between the Unlimited and a Hummer then maybe you shouldn't be driving period.

i had no need for the extra cargo room, seats, towing capability, or wheelbase. i like them, i just didn't need one. my 2dr rubi was hard enough on the wallet as it was! i enjoy the maneuverability and the small wheelbase when changing lanes in heavy freeway traffic or when parallel parking in baltimore city. it's also quite nice on the trail, but i don't think the unlimiteds really have much more of a problem getting around on the trails. maybe my tight turn became a 3pt turn for them, but that's usually the most of it. the breakover angle would hurt me a bit more because i like to push my stocker as hard as i can and i usually find myself on trails and hill climbs that have been rutted out by 35"+ tires.

i've barely made it with my 2dr before and i know the unltd would have left me looking for a strap a few times (although not necessarily in this pic because several stock 4drs went across...eventually). i'm single at the moment, but when i eventually get a wife and kids, my 2dr gives me a reason to buy an unlimited so i can have ANOTHER jeep! it's all in the planning

I have absolutely nothing against the Unlimited or its drivers. I don't consider them somehow less of an enthusiast or a lesser vehicle at all. They are nice and suited to an audience and buyer that needs the advantages that they offer by having a more easily accessible back seat and greater cargo capacity.
I don't think many on this forum, if any at all don't have respect for the Unlimited or it's owners. It's just a slightly different shaded animal of the same species. If I had 2 kids to haul around and a misses, I'd have the Unlimited too.
The soccer mom quote is getting quite old. I didnt see a rule book when i bought my jeep. Im not a soccer mom and its offensive that everyone refers to any female driving a four door to be a soccer mom. get over yourself

Yea you're probably right. We should spend the extra 7 thousand dollars to shofer our friends around. Sounds like a great way to spend my money. Fact is i wanted a 2 door to carry on the jeep tradition. Offering a 4 door did offer the added benefit for more room for the off roader who need it. But it also opened the door to all the yuppies and soccer moms (yep I brought up the "old" soccer mom thing again) who dont care one bit about tradition and wanted a roomier ford mustang convertable.
And don't be a retard, It's the mass public who looks at the 4 door as a Hummer not us. Open your ears.

Now that we are over the name calling, did you really compare the Wrangler to a Mustang convertible? Personally I bought mine because I enjoy the outdoors and have a family. I also live in a place that gets a ton of snow and enjoy the convenience of having 4 wheel drive and enjoy having a convertible in the summer time. Just because it has four doors does not mean it is a soccer mom or yuppie driving it.
I like the two door because I mostly travel with myself and I don't have too many kids. I'll buy a four door for the wife one day. But I liked it because it is easier to park, manuever, upgrades are cheaper and I like to look better.
We bought our unlimited because with 3 kids it was the only option we had. But after a lot of wheelin I can honestly say we are exfremly happy with it's capabilities as there seems to be very few circumstances where the 2 door excels. Now I do have to admit I'm a little bothered by the explosion of sales of these things as you see them everywhere now. I have always been one to prefer a vehicle that is unique and not on every street corner but I guess I got over it over it when I had a toyota tacoma. But if I had the money I would love to have a 2 door manual to build up and drive as a new challenge, but keeping the unlimited :-)

I like the look of the 2 door better. I like the way the unlimited looks with a lift and bigger tires but not as much when it is stock. IMHO the 2 door looks good both stock and lifted. I am also single and don’t have kids so I didn’t need the extra space. If I need to move a lot of stuff I have a long bed truck for that.
