oh one more thing ... i did disconnect the battery when i did the mod. it was disconnected for the duration of the mod (20 mins or so). would this have anything to do with the marker lights not working at all?

Is this still an issue for 2011 models?
This is one of the first things I did and it should be done on all JK.

Good luck with the troubleshoot. You'll love it when you get it all working.

As far as I know disconnecting your battery should have no effect on the functionality of the lights once it's reconnected. I would also have to say that it's unlikely to get two brand new bad bulbs. When you used the voltmeter to check for power you did it at the connection that goes to the fixture and not the fixture terminals for the bulbs correct? If you can get the voltmeter leads into the fixture I would check there as well instead of assuming bad bulbs. Just check at every reasonable connection point until you find where the break in continuity is.

Doublecheck that you've spliced the black marker wire into the OUTSIDE striped turn signal wire. I'm thinking that you should get a fast blinking replay if you do it wrong.

yea, definitely got the black wire from the side marker light into the striped wire farthest from the black wire on the front light. i get nothing from the side marker lights. when sticking a voltage tester (just one with the light) into the bulb housing at the wire connection side, the bulb will light up.

I have the same problem. 2011 JK Wrangler Rubicon. Tried to do this mod a couple of days ago.

1. Cut the black wire going to the side marker light.

2. Connected the black side marker wire (going to the side-marker light) to the outer-most white wire of the front parking/turn signal light.

Then nothing on the side marker light. No side-marker light. No side marker turn signal. Nothing.

I double checked my connections, and re-spliced just to make sure I did it correctly. Still no light on the side marker.

Sheeze!

Light bulbs are good. I got frustrated, and re-connected the wires as came from the factory, and all is good now, but NO blinking side-marker mod.

Did something change on the 2011 models?

Did this today on my '09. I'm not sure if anything has changed. my mom won't let me try it on her 2011
