naw, it's not as bad as you would think. i ran my shrockworks sliders back when i was stock to sitting on a 2.5" BB and then on 3" of lift and 35's. the heads never got ripped off but they did get worked enough to make it impossible for a standard 18mm socket to take them off. but, it was nothing that a dremel with a cut off wheel or a flat file couldn't fix in no time at all. also, i should point out that now that i'm running over 4" of lift and 37's, i find that i'm hitting my rails even more than ever before as i am playing on much larger rocks. and again, even without these rock sliders, you would still have these bolts down there as your factory skid plates are attached to your frame rails using them.

the frame mounted sliders on TJ's bolted on the sides of the rails, not the bottoms. i was just wondering why they are done this way on the JK sliders. must be some kind of interferences or something. i haven't really looked at it closely to see.
once again, the sliders are simply reusing the exisitng bolts that your jk uses to attach your skid plates to the frame rails. also, by securing them to the bottom as well as the sides, you can increase the strength of the sliders substantially especially from hits from below and on the edge of the slider where the leveraging forces would be the greatest.

So if you were going to put sliders on your Jeep right now, PureJeep would be the way to go? I am at a toss up with PJ and LoD. I love my LoD bumper, but the PJ's look good and seem easier to install.

if i had a 2-door, yes, i would definitely go with PJ. however, i have a 4-door and so far, i'm not all that keen on any of the body mounted rocker guards for it. the way they end at the back just looks funny to me. of all the rocker guards that i've run, i really liked the PJ prototype rails that mounted in the factory rubicon position. they were simple, strong and offered a ton of clearance. i beat on them like crazy and they held up extremely well. unfortuantely, there are no plans that i know of to manufacture them. so, for now, i'll be sticking with my lod's.

Thanks for the advice. I am on Northridge right now ordering the PJ's.

Yep, thanks for the words of wisdom and advise in this thread. I was somewhat torn between the LOD and PJ Sliders. Looks like I'll be rolling the PJ way as well and all the information shared here is much appreciated as usual!

The Red Rock sliders can be ordered with or without the aluminum step inserts. If you have the inserts, they can installed with the dimples facing up or down. The angle support brackets are 1/4" and the welds seem very good.

I have a question on the PJ sliders. Are there two different styles? On the write-up on this site the sliders do not appear to have the vertical piece of metal that goes up the fender. The pictures on the PJ site appear to have these pieces.
