WOW! This thread is enormous. Excellent info
I'm upto page 80, have just updated my new flashpaq after installing the easy update software....I think I'm ready to upload the stock settings from the jeep.
I am a little anxious with all the wierd stuff that could possibly happen though.
Ok. So if this question has been asked before sorry for wasting everyones time but....what kind of menus do you see on a 'virgin' flashpaq? Bearing in mind right now there's no stock upload either.
All I have right now are 3 options on the main screen but they lead nowhere either
trying to think what they were. Like vehicle idenntification number , power level, and options I think. Like I said they each go to another screen with no adjustable menus in?
Sorry for the long winded 'story'. But the jeep is a daily driver and don't want issues after I connect the flashpaq to the point it won't start/run
thanks for any light someone might be able to shed

Did anyone/does anyone have a Hypertech to compare the Superchips against? I have a Hypertech, and I didn't feel much of a gain in the 87 octane mode, is it much the same in the Superchips programmer?

i haven't heard much recently on comparisons to hypertech. i know early on jpop, father superchips, had a hypertech device. not trying to be an ass, but you might check some of the earlier posts on this thread from jpop to see if he talked about the hypertech tuner and comparisons. i believe he orignially bought a hypertech because superchips wasn't available for the jk at the time. he's since switched and been pleased with the superchips over the hypertech. don't want to put words in his mouth, so you might check early posts.

FWIW, up here I use my Jeep for 'on-roading' about as much as off-roading. The best speed to hit a snow drift (or a low spot on a muddy road), to have enough momentum to get through without going in the ditch, is about 25 MPH. City residential sections are just about as bad in the winter (not cleared of snow by the city). I had ARB's on both axles on my last Jeep, and used them all the time in the winter in high range, and loved 'em.

One way or another, I'll eventually get high range lockers in the JK...

just installed!

really straightforward, took about 15 minutes tops.
The only hangup was after the stock settings were saved -- it prompted me to turn ignition to off and then the screen froze. Waited 5 minutes and after nothing I turned the ignition on and the flashpaq kicked back into programming.
Maiden voyage was good, saw a little more throttle response with the 87 tune -- I'll kick it up to 91 when i refill the tank.
Glad to see my speedo works properly now!

I keep seeing this 91 octane tune... On my superchips it only has 87 octane tune and 93 octane tune no 91 anywhere. I know on west coast side you guys only have access to 91 octane.

I haven't had a chance to try the 93 octane tune. It takes so long to load a tune. I don't have the patience. Maybe when it gets warmer outside I will give it a try.

OK, So I finally finished reading all the posts late last night. Have stewed over the possiblities of the flashpaq tune screwing something up, and decided to hell with it...This is why I bought it...it isnt a doorstop after all
Ok, So my 2 cents starts with the install of the easy update software on the pc...all went well, and then I updated the flashpaq's latest revision. Didnt take too long maybe 20 mins in total ( all done via wifi at the local fast food place),
Decided after reading all the post and some of the odd things that have ahppened I'd install one "tune upgrade" at a time, then try it out briefly beofre I adjust anything else.
Plugged the flashpaq in and it started the stock upload to the flashpaq as described...There was only one "oddity" and that was when the upload had finished it told me to turn the ignition off...well I wated and waited..( remember reading on one of the previous posts that it kinda stalls and they ended up truning ignition back on after 10 mins) sure enough this is where mine stall. So after 10 minutes I turn iginition back on and it then asks me what I Tune I wanted to download....Here we go I thought...Installed the 87 Tune through the "Quick Tune" option.....follwed on screen instructions...after about 5 minuted its done!....disconnected flashpaq and took jeep for a run.....MAN ! as soon as I pulled out of the drive headed up the road the butt-o-meter registered an improvement, certainly felt as though it wanted to move off faster.
Ok..so after a few miles decide to change TPMS ( thats one of the main reasons I wanted the flashpaq to start with) Easy quick change in the "additional settings" menu...slide bargraph to desired level and Ok'd FWIW I'm running MTR-K 285/70/17 right now and Like to run them around 32psi....so set the TPMS at 30psi....installed update no issues and drove back home.
OK, next I now i was running faster than the speedo indicated, but since theres snow on the ground and its mushy, couldnt reliably measure tire height, so decided I would set them at 32.25 for now....once again this was set in one of the sub menus, called "tire height" funnily enough...again slid bargraph to what I wanted. Saved and exit and updated again.
decided to do another run to compare speedo with my iphone GPS, checked at 30 and 55mph and seem within 1mph of each other...maybe I'll leave it like this for now ( these are my winter tires/rims anyway).
So there we have it....87 tune, TPMS and tire height all in and working as hoped.
I'll run a couple tanks of gas though and then note some MPG's here.
Have to say right now the flashpaq was worth the money...I asked at the dealer how much to adjust tire height and TPMS and they wanted just shy of $100. If I can get some better mpgs maybe this will pay for itself in time.
Thanks to all that have posted before me, I'm glad I read this thread before installing..and if you were in the same "boat as me" when you come to this point...its ok.....It'll be fine...follow the on screen prompts and note the initial " waiting " whilst uploading the virgin stock settup.
