Hmmm, the "VIN UNLOCK" could be the second vehicle tune so many have been hoping for.

Filled up with 91, we'll see how it does on a few tanks of it. If it pays for it mpg wise, it sounds good to me!

I ran the 91 tune for several weeks. I noticed a jump at first, and slight increase in mpgs if I drove like granny. But since I drove it harder my mpgs eventually went down. So I decided to go back to the 87 tune. Strangely it never felt like a detune and my mileage went back up to a decent level again. I have seen at least one other poster who noticed an improvement to the 87 tune after going to 90s and returning. I am pretty happy with the 87 now. And yes, I have also revisited the stock tune to make sure it wasn't my imagination. I get decent pickup and fair mileage with the 87 for all around driving.

So much great info in this thread but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. My Jeep is an auto with 3.73 gears and since I've put on my 33" tires the transmission is constantly hunting for a good spot at highway speeds (rpm's constantly dropping and spiking) and I usually just turn off the overdrive to fix this. Will the SuperChips eliminate this? Also, from what I understand the shift points and shift firmness are adjustable but what is it that causes the rpm fluctuation at highway speeds, is it the overdrive kicking in and out?

Thanks

Eliminate? Can't quite say that, it will help to a certain degree however. Greatly depends on the terrain you are driving in, speed, weight, etc. The tuner will help pull a little harder before kicking down is what it will do. If you are running though decent elevation changes and such, it is still only a 4-speed automatic and will downshift as necessary. Tuner will raise the threshold of downshifts.

With the superchips and 6 speed I really have noticed how touchy the skinny pedal is especially around town following traffic. There is ZERO throttle delay.. I have noticed in any traffic I need to slap it into a higher gear so it's not so jerky as the JK really wants to go!

I got the VIN LOCK when I purchased the superchips USED from a forum member that sold his JK. He did the steps to upload all the stock specs...but somehow it did not remove his VIN and stock settings when I went to set up my JK. This VIN UNLOCK will unlock to allow your stock vehicle specs/VIN to be downloaded and DELETE the current stock vehicle settings & VIN downloaded in the programmer. However, if you have proof of purchasing the superchips programmer they will unlock it for $29.95 if you contact them by phone.

I think this a way to help regulate any stolen superchips with the persons stock settings installed.

if superchips issues an update, do we get emailed? or do we need to keep checking out the app with it connected?
