Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
The updates are primarily for inclusion of additional vehicle profiles, not changing the core of the performance tunes. There are hundreds of various vehicle profiles out there and some that are rather uncommon, such as manual transmission, cruise control, MyGig, 2 door, auto-start and optional gear package. That vehicle might not have been available to create a unique vehicle profile for at the inception of the Flashpaq but building a unique profile for that vehicle assures everything works properly.
Then of course you have the moving targets presented by Chrysler. There are mid-year production part changes, changes to the PCM and dealer upgrades which flash the vehicle parameters. So as things change through the manufacturing process or dealer based update flashes Superchips stays on top of it. If you're the guy who isn't able to install the Flashpaq on your vehicle, you make a report of the issue they look at your vehicle profile, make the adjustments overnight or in a few days and the next guy doesn't need to.
That's not a flaw or hole in their system, it's a statement that they deliver tuning for your specific vehicle.

I am just NOT sold on all
the inconsistency's listed on the forum. When I contacted 3 local 4x4 shops NONE are sold on ANY of the programmers and apparently there is one unit that will adjust the speedo and allow for changing of the transmission RPM ranges. This is from a very reputable shop.
I don't mind paying a little more for PROVEN QUAILITY as I only want to buy my upgrades ONCE.
Being relatively NEW to Jeeping, I was talked into cold intakes & exhausts that really DID nothing or I just can't feel the differences. I like this JK-Forum because you really get a full mix of responses and that is how we all LEARN. Patience is the VIRTUE and I am willing to wait too!

Superchips has been in this game for a long time and have a pretty long track record of proven results. They are especially keen on Chrysler gas powered vehicles and are far ahead of their competitors on a number of levels. I would venture to say that your local 4x4 shop has limited experience with this tuner if any at all and the ones they do have experience with (Jet and Hypertech) are pretty much in line with what they said.
Go back through the threads on the Superchips and find someone who has said they didn't get a boost in performance. The issues in these same threads are primarily the lack of a vehicle which in most cases are quickly and effectively remedied.
So if you want to wait it's no skin off of my back. When you get those new gears and leave the PCM scratching it's head about shift points that are based on throttle position, you'll need to do something. Just the same as a narrow band O2 and AIT sensor don't provide adequate information to the PCM to take advantage of your exhaust and intake.
Again, I couldn't be happier with my decision and if you spend all your time making decisions you can't ever afford to make the wrong one.
This product has been shipping for all of 6 weeks. I too can back your local 4x4's shop view of the competitive products that are out there, as my experience was that it didn't deliver. Conversely, the Superchips did deliver out of the box despite losing my speedometer overnight until they finished the update for my OEM gear package upgrade which wasn't amongst their vehicle profiles and it's been great!

I have a MBRP Catback exhaust ready to be installed, and am programmed to the 87 Octane Performance settig. Should I reset to stock BEFORE installing the catback, or just go as is?
Thx in advance...

I will say from past experience that it really takes at minimum a tankful for the PCM and knock sensors to totally smooth out.
