Superchips Flashpaq for JK, Initial Impressions
Got my Superchips from Northridge last night!

I got it all updated this morning before work, but I still have about a half tank of 85 octane; our lower grade here in the mountains. We have 85, 87, 91. I'm going to try the 87 Performance Tune first, but should I wait until I my next fill up with 87 octane or would I be okay with the 85 octane at high altitude (5,430 ft)?

BTW, the air has about 20% less density than what the majority of us our dealing with, making it harder to burn all the fuel your pouring in, hens the quicker burning low octane you have available.
Because you are at such high altitude, you just can't get the same amount of air in which is why you have the lower 85 grade. The one stop down in fuel grade (from 87 to 85) will burn at about the same efficiency as 87 would at closer to sea level. So I would just place the octane rating on the Flashpaq at 2 above what your putting in the tank, and let the PCM sort the rest out.

So at your altitude I would run as follows,
85 Octane for 87 setting and Mileage XS
91 Octane for 93 and Tow setting
Yeah, I'm in Denver and I can't tell much of a power drop off around town from how it felt in Atlanta. I think its due to my CAI and flashpaq. It does start to struggle a little in the mountains above 9000'. The CAI sounds different too, its a kind of strange hollow sound. Makes sense though...
I've been running 87 (mid grade) on the 87 tune. Maybe I should try 85 with the 87 tune. No scratch that I'll run 91 in it next tank (and the appropriate tune) and see if I can tell a difference.
