i thought mac's could do anything.

i don't know why you wouldn't, but i had to install something last night and i can't remember if it is superchips proprietary or something else. give them a call though - i think this would be a quick conversation.

"Hi I'm a PC"
"And I'm a Mac and while we don't support much hardware or software we sure do spend a lot of money on marketing!"

Gonna need Parallels, or some such. I did it on my Mac Pro via Parallels and it worked fine. I still keep an old Windows image around for just this reason. VirtualBox is a free alternative but I am not sure it will work.

I may try the towing mode since I rarely exceed 2200rpm except on I-95
Based on your post, I checked my SC. It was set at 30.25. An easy fix to update it to 31.75. Thanks.

The initial issue with mine was that SC had things set up to recognize the 3.21s and couldn't match up a vehicle profile with the, at the time, optional 3.73 gears. Everything else worked fine, just no speedo. MAde a report of the issue and had a new tune the same day.

So again, I would definitely try the update again, making sure there isn't anything else going on with your computer and keeping the application operating in the foreground. No screen savers or energy saving stuff on. You can also give them a call and see what they have logged on your update and they can let you know if it successfully updated.

Also, post what software rev you have for comparison to what other people are running with recent updates.
update:

i hooked the paq up to the computer to do the update again - it said everything was up to date. then hooked it up to the jeep and went through the motions again. i think everything took this time. speedo works and odometer is rolling again.

however, i notice some engine knock/ping just after letting out the clutch in 2nd & 3rd. anyone else experience this? i thought i read previously that someone had some knocking. i'll go back and search.

also, with the 87 tune, i don't notice any performance improvement. mpg's are up according to the computer but i need more time to see by how much.

i didn't notice the software rev, but will look again tonight.

I actually have windows 7 RC 5 running on bootcamp... I just hate running windows for anything (I run it for Paltalk now)

looks like I ran out of reasons not to buy the programmer. I just wish Northride4x4 was closer, waiting the week to get it hurts

just received mine and I will install it this weekend.

I think they should create an update for people who have MyGig.

It would be nice to have the output on the screen instead of having the plastic interface they provide (cheaper for them!)
Also it would protect us against people stealing the interface while the jeep is parked with top off.

Wind out the gears a couple times on some freeway onramps, that should speed up the process of resetting the PCM. A lot of the gains made by any programmer is by advancing the timing, and it's not unusual to have pushed it a little hard and awaiting for the knock sensors to set things straight.

Also, at what rpm are you shifting?

dude... what are you a superchips engineer or something? they need to give you a bonus or some type of compensation. you've saved me at least three calls to them. when leaving work yesterday, after my last post, i did notice some improvement in the knock, almost as if it is "learning"

i will try to open it up this morning and test it some more. i was shifting anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 when testing it yesterday, but i'll pay more attention to today and see if i notice where the knock, if any, happens.

as always - appreciate the help jpop.
