Thumbs up superchips

hey jpop and you all would just like to tell my experiance with product considering the australian evalutation ,western australia 40 c average temp.
first very happy with product, jk 07 6 speed
93 setting with what we have 98ron fuel, initial throttle response great upto 2500rpm then a slight ping to 4000rpm then all ok with a slight flat spot an cornering in 2nd gear I ran this set up for 2 tanks of fuel ,the pinging minimised but never ceased.

91 setting with what we have 95ron fuel, they same as above with no waiting for 2 tanks of fuel and no flat spot in cornering the results were instant

tow setting with 98 fuel, instant result with a major increase in throttle response and about a 15% increase in power upto 2500rpm then a flat type of power increase across the rest of the range.

all considered for me it was tow setting with 98ron fuel the results were instant with no pinging and a noticable power increase.I am a professional technition in the auto industry this is a great product if you can find a setting for you ,cheers from downunder

OK, I am totally envious of not only living in Oz, but in Perth which is at the very top of my list for places I'd most like to visit and perhaps someday live.

With the pinging you experienced with some tunes, I think it's largely because of the ambient air temperature. Not that you should get pinging at all, but what the Flashpaq's advancement of timing was beyond what the octane could hold.

I had also just read in a Chrysler study guide (although somewhat vague) that the PCM re-learn process can take as much as a coupe tanks of fuel and 40 on off cycles. While that seems excessive to me, tunes that were on the edge initially, have always gotten better with time. For me, I have been able to tell differences from the first to second tankfuls in how the engine was running but nothing on the butt meter. A third tankful has been nominally measurable with better efficiency numbers, but far from anything perceivable without pen and paper.

Not sure if you have the 100 RON Octane rating there any more, but I would be curios as to how that would do with the 93 tune. My guess is that it would hold solid throughout the rpm range, but might be a little on the fat side.

Anyway, very solid review and I'd be curious to hear more in the future.

Here's a rough breakdown

Superchips 93 Tune, 98 RON or Higher

Superchips 91 Tune, 96 RON or Higher

Superchips 87 Tune, 92 RON or Higher
thanks 4 the clarification, but the problem is driving is much better on the 93tune with our 95ron octane than the 91 tune;/

If you don't have pinging I would roll with it. If you do have pinging you could do some serious engine damage, and I'd advise looking for an octane rating above 95 RON to use with the 93 octane setting.

Thumbs up

I'm sold, thanks for the good honest wright up. I've been knocking my brain around trying to decide on which programmer to buy. Now I know which one gives good butt-o-meter results.

I have more of a problem with trying to average my mpg. No matter how hard I try to drive "normal", I can't seem to stay off the throttle for more than a day or so. So I get anywhere from 16-19mpg, highway and city. But the improvement in get up and go is well worth it
I was reading the Superchips forum about the lurching you are experiencing is by design. After flashing, the throttle immediately closes when you let on the accelerator and become more responsive when you press on the accelerator. This responsiveness causes lurching. JK's stock settings gradually lowers acceleration when you let of the gas and is less responsive when you press the accelerator. Superchips is working on a throttle setting that well allow us to pick how the throttle responds and plans on releasing it as an update. No ETA yet just keep checking their forum.

I spoke with Ron Rapp at Superchips in length about the surge issue on manual transmissions, and apparently many like the better throttle responsiveness while others don't. As a result they are dealing with things on a case by case basis. I guess I should have made the call sooner, as I held off of upgrading to the latest revision. I'm sure I'll either like it or be one of the few who have asked for a remap of throttle responsiveness. In the future, I understand that it will be a user selectable setting which will be great for the different driving conditions the seasons bring.
