That is a myth with people getting lower fuel mileage in the winter. The real culprit is engines taking longer to reach operating temperatures, and cooler, denser air means it's going to take more fuel for a proper A/F ratio.

With the PCM taking as much as 40 on/off key cycles for a complete re-learn and a continually changing climate with the change of seasons makes it a little tough. It would certainly be nice to have a truly dynamic system, but what we are left with certainly has it's holes.

I wasn't speaking so much to mileage as the pinging. The summer blend gasolines have a higher evaporation rate (fewer light hydrocarbons) so they don't cause as much pollution in hot weather, or so the government would have us believe. Anyway, given that it takes the ECU a while to learn and adapt, I was thinking that some people may run into issues for a while if they are still selling the winter blend gas where they live after the temperatures have warmed up. If so the problem should be temporary.

That is all true. But it is also true winter blend gasoline has lower energy content than summer blend.
Winter grades are made more volatile (less dense) to aid in cold start and
warm up performance and contain (on average) 111,000 btu/gallon.

Summer grades (on average) contain 115,000 btu/gallon.

Default I have flashpac in my 6 speed

wow too many pages to go to beginning of this thread just want to say if anyone with 6 speed is not happy with throttle response, send trouble ticket to superchips and contact them on their forum,I bought flashpac couple months ago, couldn't drive jeep with tuning installed(would "buck"at parking lot speeds from really twitchy throttle)contacted superchips, they sent me different files to put in tuner, works well now,do get some ping, but not too bad if I run 92 octane(with 87 octane tune

I have never had any pinging and I've never ran anything other than 87 octane. And as you know I also have the Airaid as well. I'd have to guess that our gas is a lot different than yours tho....

Oh and Goody.....when I return back to stock settings is when I REALLY say............"how did I ever live without it".....lol. Of course I'm running the auto too.

I am not sure....But like JPop stated it may take upwards of 40 turns of the key and a disconnect. About 4 weeks ago reset back to stock as I was do for a Oil service at the Dealership. I uploaded the latest hardware on the flashpaq and when I reloaded the 87 Octane program the pinging started to happen for the first time. I will try disconnecting the battery today but I am running a 89 Octane fuel right now and it's still pinging.

I have a question about the Superchips Flashpaq downloads from the website. Everytime you do a update to the programmer does the company tweak certain things to peak the performance compared to the last update? I mean what does staying with current downloads/updates do? This may have been asked before in the 150+ pages, that's alot to read..
Thanks, fwbb
