Thanksfor the quick reply. I'm sold on the Flashpaq. 2mpg's on a 22.5 gallon gas tank = an extra 45 miles per tank. 45miles divided by 20 miles per gallon= 2.25 gallons extra per tank. 2.25 x $3 per gallon = an extra $6.75 of gas per tank. That adds up. If you fill up every other week, that's a savings of $175.50 per year. It pays for itself quickly, in other words. I'm totally sold on this.

I wonder why you're pinging. I don't want to have to run more expensive gas; that won't be worth it to me. I'll check the vendor to see if I can return it if that happens to me. Gas is a fortune in the bay area. 89 is sometimes 20 cents more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the verge of pinging is where an engine makes the most power. Things such as hotter plugs, exhaust/intake efficiency and poor fuel can create pinging.

In the summer, and gas prices above $3 a gallon, the price differential in premium fuel pays for itself in efficiency and fuel mileage increases. Regular to midgrade fuel is an extra dime at most filling stations (even in the Bay Area) and the same goes for midgrade to premium.

Yeah there are a few reasons why the pinging could have happened, but I do know that I am not the only one. I've seen several other reports of the same thing on the 87 tune at least. My best guess is "generic" tuning combined with variable gas quality. Upgrading to 89 octane gas fixed the issue as would be expected.

I wouldn't buy this thing as a fuel savings mechanism first and foremost. I'd buy it because of the performance and drivability upgrades, and take any fuel savings as a "bonus".

It looks like the speedo is close, i won't be able to tell until tonight when I pass by the radar sign on the way home.

It is like they took the governor off my go kart!!!!

The shifting is so much better!!

It works, it works, it works!!!

Oh yes mine is a 2010 Rubi 4 door Auto bought 6 weeks ago 37' with 5.38's.

loaded the superchips 87 octane tune last night. pretty straight forward install thanks to this thread.

i set the computer back to stock form the AEV procal, loaded the 87 tune without issues and took her for a spin. I have to say I'm impressed! I'm typically a skeptic. I have bought a lot of aftermarket stuff for snowmobiles and jet skis over the years that just didn't do near as much as the hype surrounding it. but the this jeep really woke up with the superchips.

i think a lot of it is how the computer manages the shift points now. In my case, i recently bought the jeep [08 rubi ulimited auto] that was really set up well, about 13k in aftermarket parts. It had the AEV Procal for adjusting tires/gears. so the computer and tranny wasn't trying to control parameters out of sync. meaning the computer thinking it had 4:10s when it really had 5:13s

what i'm trying to say is the jeep was set up right, and ran good, but being a 4 door running 37s it was a slug. I added a Gibson dual outlet cat back system, which i knew wouldn't add much power, and it didn't, but i was looking for a nice sound. With just that upgrade the tone was a little too ricey sounding for my tastes[ being older]. Next i added an Airraid CAI, that made the tone better and gave it a nice sound, you could tell the jeep was breathing better. the last piece was the superchips, WOW......... IT RIPS. It flat out GROWLS when you get on it and flat out moves for being a bigger rig. RPM's climb right the the red line and the tranny transfers the power perfectly, they really did a great job on this program. HOLY CRAP! two thumbs up!

i don't know how i'm going to get better gas mileage, because my foot will be in this thing all the time. i did burn out the rest of the 87 octane and filled her up with 89. I'm gonna run that with the 87 tune for a bit and then switch to the 89 tune. thanks for this thread. i was researching what tuner to get, this thread steered me to buy the superchips and i'm real happy with it.

x2 - I just got mine programmed last night! Its not a sports car, but it seems to have more than made up for the change to 35s. It feels more like it did before with the stock 32s, other than the obvious gearing effect of the bigger tires.

For my 315/75/16's I had to change my measurement to 33.75 to get the speedo to show what the GPS said I was doing...
