93 is the highest i've heard of.

with 98 you'll probably be airborn most of the time.

kidding. i really don't know. i probably still need to give the other tunes some more time, but i'm not noticing any real difference between the 87 and 91 tunes. i haven't seen dyno results so can't say for certain what the performance gains are, but i think most people have been pleased with how the tuner feels to them.

Fan on settings need to be at least 20 degrees warmer than the installed thermostat. The stock thermostat is a 195, so you shouldn't be setting the fan on temperature lower than 215.

I did the exact same thing as I had the stock 195 in and set it for the 180 I had waiting to install. Dropped the fan on setting to 200 and was getting a CEL and a DTC of "Open Fan Relay". Swapped in the 180 and haven't had the issue since.

I hope that helps.
Makes sense. Thanks. It only seems to happen when I run for a bit, shut down for a bit (like gassing up) then restart it. It's only happened twice so I don't think it's a big deal. I'll put a 180 thermostat on my to do list. Think that's a NAPA item or do I have to go educate my local dealership parts man again?

That's 95 and 98 RON. In the U.S. we measure octane using the (RON + MON) / 2 method. Your 98 RON gasoline is roughly equivilent to U.S. 93 (R+M)/2 octane. Your 95 RON gasoline is rougly equivilent to U.S. 91 (R+M)/2 octane.

Actually a guy in Austrailia (where they use the same RON measurement you use) complained that running the 93 octane tune on 98 RON fuel resulted in a lot of pinging which leads me to believe that 98 RON is slightly lower octane than 93 (R+M)/2 US fuel.

Hmmm, I looked at Summit and couldn't find a part number now either. I got the part and number from a Jet rep when I was at truckfest there a few years back. I'll need to dig for my receipt when I get back home next week as I couldn't unearth it on Summit's page either.

One thing though is there aren't a ton of thermostats on the market and lots of applications for every SKU. You should be able to go to the local NAPA or other auto parts store and grab one.

Any *good* parts counter man should be able to find it simply enough - The boxes should have a part number on it and then a model number which have the temp range as part of the number and then the guy at the parts counter just needs to grab the 180 version - it will be something like 567-195 for a 195 degree one and the one you want is like a 567-180 (the first three numbers are made up - this is NOT the actual parts number)

If you get someone that only can look up in the computer ask for the STANT catalog and find the stock part number they came up with and then find it in the book and it should group the same "model" thermostat by temp range

Oh - and don't cheap out on the $4 thermostat - buy the $11 "Super Stat" thermostat - they tend to fail open better than the cheapo's do...

I'm nearly 30 years removed from working at a counter at the auto parts store, but it shouldn't be difficult at all to get the right one. I was kind of bummed when you couldn't get there at Summit by just using their make/model search tool. Being less than 45 minutes away from Summit, I always get good service out of their counter help and the only time they screwed up was when they sold me 8 instead of 16 spark plugs for my Hemi Ram. Guess that was my fault as soon as I opened the hood i said "this isn't gonna work". They sent me the other 8 with no shipping charges and they were on my doorstep the next morning.

Yeah, totally agree with that. The cheapos are good for a single season while the better ones will hold up for years allowing you to swap them back and forth.

Just the same, I check them on the stove with a thermometer and a pot of water to make sure there OK while the wife is away. I'll never understand why that is such a big deal, but as long as she wants to take charge of what goes on in that room I'll continue to sneak around.

Wouldn't a 180 for the 3.8 Caravan work?

Wow, we're on page 38 already! I got mine installed last week Wednesday and have talking with Superchips over the last week or so. They still have no answer as to why mine is missing all the trans settings, and many more. Each time I call they say they'll call back right away. They haven't called back yet. I call every 2 days with the same response. Debating taking it back and figuring something else out as the customer service has been horrible...
